The featured image is a photo I took in Reno after a good rainstorm. There’s a double rainbow against a gray sky.
I thought I would pause on writing anything about New Year’s Resolutions because, usually we’re all excited about the promise and potential of a New Year and a few weeks later….well you know. Last year I didn’t make any resolutions–I developed long haul COVID and spent most of 2022 fighting that. (I’ll need some long posts for that one.)
I’ve had a lot of productive days recently and today was my first day I had to take a break. It wasn’t by choice–I’ve had this eye twitch that WILL NOT STOP, to the extent that I can’t look at anything or focus for very long without it driving me mad.
I almost took the night off, but then I decided I would list my resolutions and hold myself accountable for them. It’s a good evening to revisit this list.
- Start my new career. I’ve been in the middle of a career transition–learning new things has been an enjoyable adventure, but it’s time to get serious about applying myself. Or applying 😀
- Spend quality time with family. I’m making even more of an effort to show up and be present. Too often, we’re caught up with the little things and if I’ve learned anything over the past few years, it’s to focus on what matters.
- Pursue my creative endeavors. I’m tired of being a shadow artist–I’m excited to make art something I do with intention and wholeheartedly.
- Get outside more. I’m pretty good at this already. But who couldn’t use more time outside?
- Develop a spiritual practice. The signs are there and it’s time.
- Read 3 books per month. Now that I’m not commuting a long distance to work, I’ve been reading less. I don’t like that.
- Find a fitness routine and stick with it. For the longest time, I would just hike,,run, climb, or do yoga; those were my default exercises. Then slowly, I only had time to run. I haven’t really done any other conditioning and I’m worried that it’s not a good thing to do in the long run. ;D No, but seriously; I think to be able to continue to run, I need to add in some strength training.
- Commit to a cleaning routine. It’s hard to find a good routine.
- Reduce clutter. We all buy a bunch of stuff we don’t need. I’m pretty good about just using what I buy, but I could always be better.
- Use a planner. I have so many notebooks and planners. I’ve always preferred a physical planner versus something digital–I think it just works better with me and having ADHD.
